Gimre alpaca is a beautiful yarn made of a mix of 50% fine baby alpaca fiber and 50% fine sheep wool. The resulting yarn is as elastic, warm, and durable as sheep wool, and as soft and shiny as alpaca fiber. This yarn is the perfect all-round yarn, suitable for sweaters, cardigans, mittens, hats, scarfs, socks, blankets and sofa pillows. Gimre Alpaca may easily be combined with Selbu Spinneri’s other Gimre yarns, as they are the same weight/gauge.

Worked using size 3-4 mm/U.S. this yarn comes in 50g balls which contain approximately 100m/109 yds.

Gimre Alpaca is made of fiber from alpaca kria (Baby Alpaca), mixed with the softest lambswool from the Norwegian crossbreed breeds. By mixing alpaca fiber with lambswool, the yarn gets the good properties of wool, combined with the lovely, soft touch of alpaca. The yarn is luxurious and suitable for garments that need to be extra soft, such as hats, headbands, scarves and slightly nicer sweaters. These lovely yarns come in three naturally occurring colors, without any chemical treatment involved.
