Selbu Spinneri Gimre Colorspun 50g

Gimre is a good and steady yarn that is suitable for many different projects, spun out of hand- selected fibers (chosen for softness and length) from Norwegian sheep. This yarn is suitable for socks, mittens, sweaters, jackets, sofa blankets and other interiors items. Feel free to choose the softer variants such as Gimre alpaca or Gimre hund for hats, headbands and scarves. The yarn is suitable for knitting, crocheting and weaving. These wool fibers are washed, carded and spun in small batches at the small factory in Klæbu. , Norway, where they treat the wool very gently so that it retains the fine properties for which wool is known.

There is an assortment of Gimre gauge yarns…..Gimre Sheep, Gimre Samoyed, and Gimre Alpaca. All of these are nice to combine with each other.

Please note: Some Gimre yarns are 100g balls/200 m where as others only come in 50g/100m balls. Please consider this difference when ordering yarn for your next project.

This yarn is spun from a mixture of dyed and natural wool that is hand-dyed with acid dyes. Because the yarn is manufactured this way, Selbu Spinneri saves up to 50% dye, the use of water and electricity for dyeing (compared to full dye yarn). This yarn is a little less environmentally harmful than yarn, at the other dyeing methods, providing a beautiful play of colors. Feel free to use the color-spun yarn to spice in your knitting projects and colorwork, using the Natural Color Gimre as a base color!
