NEW SHIPMENT HAS ARRIVED Selbu - Gammel Selbu (Old Selbu)
“Gammel” (or Old )Selbu was developed in collaboration with Anne Bårdsgård and her book publication, to resemble the traditional yarn used in Selbustrikken. This yarn is a luxurious, airy yarn that is suitable for medium-thin mittens, sweaters, jackets, hats and shawls, and presents itself nicely in a two-stranded pattern and structured knits that can withstand both loose and firm knitting tension. Six natural colors are available, as well as an ever-growing collection of dyed colors. A collection of hand-dyed colors are also available.
White yarn is spun from Norwegian White Sheep (Norsk Kvit Sau), grey is spun from Grey Trøndersau sheep and natural black is spun from Black Sheep. (Blaeset sau)
The six natural colors in Gammel Selbu (White, White Grey, Light Grey, Medium Grey, Dark Grey/charcoal and Natural Black) are slightly less expensive than the dyed versions due to the additional processing necessary to achieve the lovely colors.
100% Norwegian wool
Recommended needle: 2-4
Suggested knitting tension: 24-30sts per10cm/4in
175m/191 yds per 50 g ball This would be considered a fingering/light fingering weight yarn
